Transferring a Domain Name
I. Go to http://rs.internic.net/cgi-bin/itts/domain
and fill out the online form.
A. Enter Your E-mail Address and Domain Name. If your
E-mail address is the same as the Admin Contact's E-mail address for your domain name, you
can send an Ack in the InterNIC verification E-mail message and they will (should) move
your domain name.
B. Select "Modify Existing Domain."
C. Follow the instructions and use the following:
1. Use the NIC Handle
"MS652-ORG" for the Technical Contact
2. Use the following nameservers:
a. NS.SITEPROTECT.COM
209.100.98.10
b. NS2.SITEPROTECT.COM
209.224.144.2
II. When you receive the filled out InterNIC form, send it to: hostmaster@internic.net.
III. When you receive the NIC Tracking Number back from the
Internic, you can begin your transfer.
IV. If you have e-mail access to the Admin Contact for your domain
name, you must send the InterNIC the proper acknowledgement (Ack) that you agree.
Just follow the Instructions on this second e-mail message that you receive from the
InterNIC about your site.
Otherwise you will have to send a fax to
the InterNIC. If you are a company, you will have to send the fax on company
letterhead and include your signature, your title as an officer of the company, and your
InterNIC tracking number. If you are an individual, you will have to send a copy of
your drivers license, your signature, and your InterNIC tracking number. Their
number is fax: 703-742-9552.
The fax should read something like this:
Dear InterNIC,
Please move my domain name as requested in tracking number
NIC-YYMMDD.##### (<--insert your tracking number here). I need this move done
quickly and would appreciate your prompt attention.
Sincerely,
(<--insert your name, signature, and title here) |
V. It could also help if you called the
InterNIC an hour or so after sending the fax or a few hours after
sending the e-mail request. You can reach
them at phone: 703-742-4777.
